Join us in celebrating the work of Latina artists from across Wisconsin. More than a collection of artworks, this exhibition is a ceremony of healing, resistance, and belonging, created by Latina artists, for Latina artists, and shared with all who are willing to witness.

10TH ANNIVERSARY RETROSPECTIVE

Arts + Literature Laboratory presents the 10th Anniversary Retrospective, an invitational group show featuring 50+ exhibiting artists from across our first decade of arts programming. On view Tuesday, September 15 through Saturday, November 7, 2026, this exhibition will revisit artists from our community and beyond, at various points in their careers, who have intersected with ALL and our decade of curation and exhibition programs: from LAB^4 and Bridgework cohorts to ALL Prize winners, Native Art Market vendors, resident studio artists, Roundhouse artists, and CSArtists.

Arts & Literature Laboratory began in 2015 as an all-volunteer artist group inside a 700-square-foot former machine shop on Winnebago street. Ten years later, ALL is now located in a three-story 10,500 square foot building in the heart of downtown Madison, working with 700+ artists per year. Come celebrate our community and our decade of growth with us!

An opening reception for this show will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

We will also have a closing reception on Gallery Night, Friday, November 6, 2026 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm,with more anniversary festivities––stay tuned!

Entre Tonos

Inspired by living between cultures, Entre Tonos highlights the many voices and artistic expressions of Latinx and Indigenous artists in the Midwest. The exhibition welcomes portraiture, abstract work, photography, textiles, sculpture, installation, digital, and mixed media pieces exploring themes of identity, memory, place, emotion, spirituality, transformation, and contemporary experience.

Artful Women 2025

Artful Women 2025 will run from November 1 through December 6, 2025 in the Surgical Waiting Area at University Hospital, 600 Highland Ave., Madison. Coordinated by dedicated volunteers, the juried art show and sale serves as a fundraiser for the Wisconsin Women’s Network and continues to be a venue for new and experienced artists to come together to create an interesting and diverse exhibition.

In Gifts from the Dark, Jessica M. Gutierrez, brings her worlds together as an artist and mental health therapist, exploring identity and healing through the lens of Gutierrez’s family history. Drawing from her trauma healing background, she travels through time, creating transformational portals that illuminate her inner world. She reveals colorful and shadowy landscapes of inner children supported by floral configurations. Connecting with her intuitive process and the spirit of collage, she brings fragmented memories into new realities depicting moments of clarity, power and moments in process — all revealing what is typically hidden behind closed eyes. Each piece becomes a container, a prayer, an externalized memory infused with sacred symbols of healing. Through her art, Gutierrez brings gifts from the present into the past and retrieves the gifts left behind, once hidden in the dark.
