“Connections”

-an instagram art story between @delalunadesigns and @inspiritartist-

Our art connected us. Then our roots connected us. Now our hearts connect us.
— Jessica M. Gutierrez, InSpiritArtist

“Our friendship grew in an unexpected place. My love of earrings led me to her via another favorite earring artist’s post. I was curious about all of the beautiful and powerful brown women artists on her story. When I saw the art of @delalunadesigns , I lit up as if I had found a treasure chest filled with every pair of earrings I had ever looked for. It sounds dramatic but it really was that exciting for me! I found a sister artist and I could not stop beaming over every single thing she created. Also, something about her work felt familiar to the soul of my own.

If you were scrolling through our messages from 2020 until now, you would see pages of hearts and heartfelt compliments as well as meaningful, deep conversations about our roots, our identities, our families and our excitement over each other’s art.

When Virginia reached out to me a year ago about a collaborating, I was overjoyed! It felt like the perfect idea and I was beyond honored to be asked.

One year later it has sprung to life. We have finally come together in real life—>From LA and Wisconsin to meet in Tucson 4 years later! What a beautiful journey and connection.”

When we open ourselves up, the connections we form in life can be truly magical.

“The connections we form in life can be truly magical when we open ourselves up. In 2020 I received an order from Jessica Gutierrez @inspiritartist from Madison, Wisconsin. It was an exciting moment as my creations were reaching places I had never been before. When Jessica shared a video and picture wearing the earrings and tagged me, I was amazed at how beautifully she brought them to life. Her vibrant and joyful style resonated with me, reminding me of my own artistry filled with color and animal medicine. I was captivated by her artwork and proposed a collaboration to merge our creative visions. For one reason or another it did not come together till now. I’m so excited to present to you my first collaboration with an amazing artist I had never met in real life until a few weeks ago. Where we flew to Arizona to meet for the first time. Our connection felt instant, as if we had been friends for years, reuniting once again. Join us….as we unveil the magic of ‘Connections.’”

Part of my intent for visiting my mom was to take photos for a future art project. Virginia’s inspired visit and artful vision brought our bond and connection to life as if she could see right into my soul. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to support this vision.
